Mind candy

In between naps, I've been re-reading J.R.R. Tolkien's Finn and Hengest. Like all of Tolkien's scholarly work, it's densely written. And I've been through the argument several times before. But, O! what a joy to walk through a thicket of information with someone who can name every weed, and make use of the most unlikely growths. If only those who attempt biblical exegesis were up to this standard of work.
