Real Men Cook With Fire

Our group of younger men, "Real Men Cook With Fire," finished their nine-week discussion group tonight. We had bleu-cheese-burgers (wow). I got down my mother's old home French fry cutter, which hasn't seen use since I was 11 or 12, because the guys wanted home-made French fries; they were as good as anything Penn Station can make.

Our last topic was Church. I talked about our Wesleyan class meeting history, and how the small group, where people talk Real™, is the connector between personal faith and the Sunday morning church experience. In part, our group was intended to be a "demonstration of concept," a living experience of what that could feel like.

All of us have very positive feelings about our time together. I'll send around an evaluation form to get the guys' opinions on the format, the topics, etc. But right now, it is enough for me to say that I have rarely felt so ministered to -- so much a part of the Church -- as I have felt while leading this group. It has been altogether good for me, and not a chore at all.

Thank you, Jerry, Tom, Nat, and Patrick (and Jesus).
