It's cruel, but somebody has to do it

We had lunch today with the Nurture Committee at Nuestro Mexico. The conversation turned to pop music, including TV themes. I mentioned that the original Star Trek theme had words to it, but they were never recorded; the instrumental is all everyone knows. This boggled several minds, so I promised to go home and dig out the lyrics and share them.

The tempo for the music by Alexander Courage is "Bright Galactic Beguine." Words by (Oh, the shame) Gene Roddenberry.
Beyond the rim of the starlight,
My love is wand'ring in starflight.
I know he'll find, in star-clustered reaches,
love, strange love a star woman teaches.
I know his journey ends never;
His star trek will go on forever.
But tell him while he wanders his starry sea,
Remember, remember me.

Try to get THAT out of your brain, Cuddles.
