Movie night

Deanne and I went to a movie tonight *gasp*. Yeah, I know. The last movie we saw in an actual theater was The Passion of the Christ in 2004. It had probably been five or six years before that since our last previous outing. We don't get out much, at least not to movie theaters. Anyway, someone had given us a gift card for the movies *ahem* a year ago. So, off we went.

We saw Despicable Me. It was delightful. Most of the plot was easily predictable, but it didn't matter. Movies like this are character-driven, and the characters were marvelous. We were entranced.

I still think Gru's minions look like Twinkies. Gru's uncaring mother was voiced by, of all people, Julie Andrews. Dr. Nefario was a great sidekick. The evil banker, Mr. Perkins, looked like Dilbert's boss on steroids. The three little girls were charming.

Maybe we shouldn't wait six years before we take in a movie again.
