If the Al Quaeda wannabes that bombed London had actually wanted to hurt the British, they went about it the wrong way. They timed their attacks to coincide with the G8 meeting -- just when nobody wants to look less resolved than the guy next to you in the press conference.
If they had wanted to really depress people, they should have attacked two days ago, when their attack might have swayed a close decision by the IOC and given Paris the 2012 Olympics. THAT would have really torn the Brits up. As it is, they are madder'n hell and the West is more united than ever.
All of which leads me to believe that the terrorists aren't really trying to destroy us -- they haven't a clue who we are, or what we're about. The terrorists are trying to recruit or frighten other Muslims in order to build their own power base back home. We're just the backdrop to their intramural struggle.
