New toy

My new Troy-Bilt trimmer mower arrived yesterday, but I had to go to Indy to see our youth on their mission trip, then was busy all today. So I only got around to taking it out of the box this evening. What a honey. It mows a swath 22" wide, while pivoting on two large wheels.

I'm taking it out to the holler tomorrow to get after the tall grass and weeds around the cabin. Maybe I'll take it across to Fuji's grave and work on the trail and his gravesite if it's really in trim. And, of course, it'd be nice to get some of the tall grass whacked down on the margins of the drive. (The wife insists I mow the trail to the treasure chest.)

Here's hoping this baby is sturdy enough to mow the open areas of the holler that we like to play in. The ground is too rough (or too soft) for a riding lawn mower; plus, a regular push lawn mower would constantly choke out from trying to chop the grass and weeds. I'm hoping that I can get away with only mowing out there a few times a year. May take a lot of string, though.

Meanwhile, I'm eaten up with mosquitoes from just being out a few minutes this evening. Why are there always so many more mosquitoes in town than out in the holler? Yuck.

Anyway, this is all prelude to our plans (me and collinsmom) to camp out at Wilderstead Sunday night. Plan to take Sassy the Wonder Dog, too. It'll be her first overnight at the cabin. Ah, campfire smoke, lantern light, freedom from the loons out determined to kill someone on the highways . . .
