Gone home

My cousin Barbara (the Gunny) died today. It has been a very long, very difficult passage. She wasn't expected to live to see last Christmas, but she almost made it to this one. She has been in hospice care for two weeks or more.

My Aunt Clarice sounded exhausted when she called on Thanksgiving. She said, "I know it'll get better." I replied, "There will be an After." We were both saying the same thing. My sister tells me that Barbara said she just wanted to "go home."

Well, now she has.

Semper Fi and Godspeed, Barbara.
