Here a prayer, there a prayer, everywhere a . . .

The choir had finished warming up this morning and we were ready to get in place for the start of worship. We held hands, and I prayed, as usual. Maybe I was already halfway out the door, mentally, but I didn't really stop to compose my thoughts. I just opened my mouth and started talking to God, and what I heard myself say was,
Lord, bless everybody who came this morning.
Bless everybody who couldn't come this morning.
And bless everybody who should've come this morning.

People chuckled. Maybe they thought that was a more honest prayer than we usually allow ourselves together.
