Critical mass

We had several new youth (and adults!) at our Venturing meeting this afternoon. I'm thinking we'll get this sucker chartered before the end of the month. Right now, we've got seven youth and seven adults signed on/signing on. And there's room for more.

But, still, this opens up a new field of ministry and lots of fun for everybody. I'm excited and full of dread all at the same time.

Collecting money for Philmont is a white-knuckle affair; I think we're going to have to float a loan from personal money to crew to keep our reservation. I don't think there'll be any hassle with getting people to actually go -- but sorting out who's really going and who's got money on the table will keep me awake at night for a while.

By the end of the year, I think we'll have an active crew with trained officers and functioning committee, and the youth will be taking charge of their program. Prayers would be appreciated.
