Day off

collinsmom's Spring Break (actually, it's called "Reading Week") was coming to a close, and she hadn't had a fun day through the whole deal, so she insisted we go out to Wilderstead overnight. So, after a lunch meeting in Washington on Friday, we cruised over on US 50 toward our blessed retreat.

It was gorgeous. We relaxed, we piddled, we talked. She had trouble sleeping and got up to fiddle with the firebox; meanwhile, I had a wonderful night's sleep. The ol' army mummy bag is the warmest thing I've ever snuggled up in. We came back this afternoon.

I took this picture Friday afternoon about 6:00 p.m., as the late afternoon sun was streaming into the steep valley of our little creek, the Pishon -- now swollen with Spring runoff. I had this creek worked on last Fall, and it's flowing beautifully.
