Happy Bastille Day

Today in 1789, French peasants stormed the Bastille. The old dump was more or less undefended and only a handful of prisoners were still in it, but what the heck -- Vive la Revolution and all that. Thirteen years ago, I tried to get the staff and campers at Old Ben Scout Reservation to sing La Marseillaise on July 14. It was pretty bad.

In more personally relevant news, my father died on July 14, 1998. Rest in peace. Hard to believe it's been ten years.
