Getting ready
My secretary's on vacation this week, so I cranked out Sunday's worship bulletin myself this morning. By early afternoon, I was ready to start pulling out camping gear. I am now ready to throw stuff in the truck on fifteen minutes' notice.
And where are we going? Hah! We're going hiking. In the stifling heat and humidity of an Indiana June. With a chance of thundershowers for variety. For twenty miles. All of which means that I'm approaching this as if it were a backpacking expedition, even though it's just a day hike. I mean, we've got to take everything necessary to keep these guys on their feet and around the course.
To make it easier, we're going camping, too. That way, we don't have to fiddle around in the morning assembling everybody. They're already there. First call is at 5:30, breakfast's at six, and I hope to be on the trail by 6:30 a.m. And we're going to Wilderstead, so there's a nice, secure cabin to flop in, and we don't have to mess with setting up tents.
Anyway, we leave at 5:30 this evening, and expect to get back about noon on Saturday. Prayers for all of us, please.
