Questions about on-demand publishing

I know that several of my LJ friends have published through Lulu and other on-line, on-demand publishers. I have a project that I would like to do, to be sold on-line through an existing web-page (plus, if there are automatic on-line outlets, that's a bonus). I don't want to deal with ordering a gazillion things and mess with inventory and shipping and all that.

What successes have people had, with which companies?
