We have twenty United Methodist chaplains at the Jamboree this summer! That's one of the largest contingents, probably about the same as the LDS and maybe a few less than the Roman Catholics. There will be about 3,000 people at our UM worship service on Jambo Sunday.
As a former church orphan, Scouting was incredibly important to my spiritual development as a youth. It was protoevangelium for me. Most of my worship experiences as a youth (age 11 on) were in camp settings. My Scoutmaster, a Baptist minister, was very important to me, too. Those who bring the light of Christ to the boys and girls on Scouting's path have a very special place in my heart.
