Christmas Eve and all's well (as can be expected)

The night is falling. I'm whiling away the time before getting ready for the Christmas Eve service at 11:00 p.m. After that, a view of Mars and the Moon seems in order, so I think I'll drive out into the country and get a good look at the sky: something I've always liked to do on Christmas Eve, when Cygnus the Swan stands on his nose in the west, becoming a gigantic Northern Cross.

It was a too-busy day. I had nearly a full day of office work, errands, and calls. On top of that, I've been doing a lot of pet care and housework, since collinsmom is out of commission. And though it sounds like after tonight I've got the rest of the week to blow off, in fact Christmas Day means cooking for everybody (got a ten-pound standing rib roast to do). Then, I've still got to take siege back to Mole Hill, IN, after Christmas. And Sunday's sermon is a new one, and I've got to write it. And I've got a very sick old man in the hospital I probably ought to see at least once more this week. And there's still cleaning and pet care and what-all.

Somehow, I've got to get at least a couple of days of actual rest and fun this week. But first, Christmas Eve.
