I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord

The day started out busy, with Sunday School and worship. We recognized graduates with Bibles. I preached one of my best sermons, but I don't think I was at my best.

After worship, the Church Council met to review the recommendations for salary and benefits for the new pastor. Great grumblings and so on. The measure passed by a low margin. On to Charge Conference in two weeks at which I will preside.

I was deeply saddened by it all. I am so tired of being strong and responsible for everybody. I just want to run away.

Which I did this afternoon. I picked up that_guy_zach at his house and we went out to Wilderstead to install the new french doors on our little cabin. Neither of us had ever done such a thing, but we are both hardy souls, whose motto is, How hard can it be?

Three hours later, we went out and got some chicken tenders and potato wedges to go with the Fuller's Vintage Ale I'd brought. We returned to Wilderstead, contemplated the job so far, and said, "It is good."

That Guy Zach installing french doors at Wilderstead

This is going to be a very busy week. All my pastoral work I need to cram into tomorrow, as well as getting some stuff done out at Wilderstead.

Tuesday, I go to Yonder UMC to spend the day talking with the leaders of my new congregation and figuring out what's up with that transition. Wednesday, I leave for D.C. to meet stryck and anher at Greenbrier S.P. We will mess about Washington Thursday. Friday is the Annual Meeting of NAUMS. Saturday, I drive home. So don't expect to see much of me on-line this week.
