Starting the New Year off right
Daniel and James were way too fidgety and argumentative trying to play indoors. Everyone else was too pooped to deal with them. I needed to get some exercise (both to make my big muscles move and to wear off some of the flab I've acquired). So I told Daniel to get his coat and gloves on, and we'd go for a walk.
We walked on down through town to the bridge over Jack's Defeat Creek. My legs protested in all kinds of ways. My back griped too, since I'm carrying enough extra weight to have shifted my center of gravity. Daniel jogged on ahead in fits and starts. He can't walk a straight line, either, so every so often, he'd crowd me, like a kitty or puppy playing around my legs. Eventually, we got our rhythm down together.
Once we'd crossed the bridge, we turned back on Main St. to get to the trailhead of the newly-opened Heritage Trail. The Ellettsville Heritage Trail is a tribute to the limestone industry, of which we are a central part. The quarries roundabout donated lots of scrap to make interesting trail improvements. Someone else donated an old stone wall, which has been moved and installed at the trailhead.Garden GnomeDaniel on the stone wallTrilithon GateThe Heritage Trail begins in earnestThe road goes ever on and onNice landscapingKid-friendlyGrandbear-approvedA pillar of the communityLet me show you how awesome I amThe winnerChampion limestone country
