Weighty matters

On August 13, 2012, I posted my weight, right after Philmont. It was 216.5.

Some time in October, when I had a round of specialists' appointments, it was around 225, I think.

I weighed myself today. 233.

So, I've gained 16.5 pounds since returning from Philmont. That's not good, but it's not terrible; indeed, it's about normal for a winter weight gain for me. The good news for me is that, 1) I started from a better position last summer, so I'm not as bloated and gross as I was last year, and 2) 233 is still maximum weight for Philmont, which is the standard I have to meet or beat to do high adventure in the summer.

So: time to increase my exercise and watch the fat, grease, and dairy again. My goal for now is just to hold steady and stop increasing. Once we get into February and March and my body begins to shift to summer metabolism after winter's hibernation, then I should start dropping weight seriously.

My ultimate goal is to stay under 220, year-round. That will eventually require me to get down to, say, 200 in the summer after all my high adventure exertions.

After the Fall

New Year's Day is sunny and clear. The snow is melting a bit, packing down nicely, but there's still a bunch of it. Here are some pics of our locale.
