There are many difficult aspects to being an ordained minister. Still, I get tired of some folks griping that they want only the parts of the job they like and resent being expected to do the parts they don't like. This is particularly true of those who don't want to have to jump through all the hoops, or complete the required seminary education, or who want an elder's authority with a deacon's or local pastor's status.

Spiritual maturity is doing what is expected and not trying to dodge it. As John Wesley said, "And do not mend our rules, but keep them; not for wrath, but for conscience sake." Or as Super Chicken used to say, "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred."
