humped zebra

Well, I'm here

I checked into my hotel in Nashville a bit ago. Took me just five hours to drive down here. At Bible Study today, I asked for prayer for my trip. One lady said, "Aren't you getting tired of going to these meetings?" My face fell, and I replied, "Oh, yeah" or words to that effect.

Speaking of Bible study, I had a request that we study some of the Apocrypha, so I gave a sort of introduction to the problems of the Old Testament canon today. We start next week on the additions to Daniel: Bel and the Dragon, Susannah, and The Song of the Three Holy Children. Who knows where we'll end up?

Lightning had a barium test today at the vet's. Tracking the barium through his system, it seems that things are going through, so other than an inflamed colon, he may turn out OK without anything too nasty or invasive done to him. Which would make him one lucky cat! (No wonder the stereotypical cat name is Felix.) If all goes well, ða wif will pick him up tomorrow.

Over the next three days, I face "death by meeting," as the UMM Foundation, GCUMM, and the NACP all have their annual meetings (and subcommittees) stacked up on top of each other. I'm praying, first, that something good comes out of these meetings for Scouting Ministry; second, that something good comes out of these meetings for NAUMS; third, that I can make a contribution somehow. Of course, they also serve who only [sit] and wait, as Milton said. Or maybe that was St. Ophelia Sorebutt.

Maybe not such a crazy idea

So, Lynn . . . if I were to actually offer a Service of Blessing the Hunt this fall, would an early morning or an evening before suit the hunters better? If we held a dinner of beans and cornbread on the same evening (or biscuits and gravy for breakfast) would that increase attendance, or just be a distraction? If we advertised it for all the counties round about (Morgan, Owen, Greene, as well as our corner of Monroe), do you think we'd attract enough to make a small congregation for the service?

Anybody else got an idea on this?

(BTW, when should we do it? There are multiple seasons for deer, not to mention everything else.)
