Ah, peace and quiet
I went to Bass Pro yesterday to get some shirts on sale. While I was there, I snaffled a campfire waffle iron (evil snicker).

I also found a place that sells limestone blocks that are just right for the step I've been meaning to put in front of my cabin. The problem is, the thing weighs 500 lbs. So, until I can get 3 or 4 fellow sides of beef together to get it off my truck, I can't go buy it and take it to the holler. Oh, well, another day.

I got out to Wilderstead at 6:00 last night, and found that my neighbor had locked up the gate wrong. We have separate locks for the chain, and said locks are supposed to link together. His lock was the only one holding the chain. And he was gone for the weekend, apparently. So, I turned around went back to town and bought me a two-handed skeleton key (aka the biggestest bolt-cutter you ever saw), and returned to make quick work of the link his lock had passed through. Then I locked everything up the way it's s'posed to be. Left the bolt-cutter in the shed in case the problem ever repeats itself.

Spent an absolutely wonderful, wonderful evening in my cabin. Lovely morning, too. I would have stayed the afternoon if I'd thought to bring anything for lunch. As it was, I bought a couple of backpacker meals at Bass Pro, the kind you just add boiling water to. The beef stroganoff was pretty good. The bacon and eggs was less successful.

While piddling about this morning, I dug out the gravel in front of the french doors and leveled an impact platform for the future step.

What a wonderful day.
