Over the finish line to victory
I put in a fourteen-hour day yesterday, which meant I was in bed around 10:00 p.m. Up again at 4:30 this morning, making coffee and getting ready for the Big Day.
Sunrise Service was pretty good, and well-attended. All my confirmands (and some other youth) were there to put the breakfast on. After breakfast, I made a dash down to the CVS to get some prints of recent stuff to show off -- like yesterday's Easter Egg Hunt.
Then came the Main Event. The place was jam-packed. Best count so far: 161 people, which I don't think our sanctuary has seen in years. I received my class: two baptisms, three confirmations, one renewal, and one transfer. A real high point! The choir's cantata was pretty good, too.
Among the throng were a couple of old friends of mine: Seth and Nathan Williams, who were on our scouting mission trip to Africa in 2001 as 15- and 13-year olds, respectively. Their parents were attending an out-of-state wedding, so rather than go home for Easter, they stayed at IU and dropped in on us. collinsmom
and I took them out for lunch at the Irish Lion. Seth is a first-year Law student and Nathan is a junior in Business.
All in all, it's been a blessed Easter. Thank you, Father! Especially, thank you for Chelsea and Michael (baptized), for Brooke and Makayla and Marshall (confirmed), for Alex (reaffirming his faith) and for Melodie (transferring from another UM church). May their tribe increase!
Now, to see if any of the pics I and D. took today at various times are worth posting!
