wayside cross

Civilization is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there

I spent a lovely weekend at Wilderstead. Friday evening, that_guy_zach and I schmoozed for a while in the holler. Nice to have some easy, unstructured time together! The stars were enormous jewels, burning in the night sky.

When I got up Saturday, there was frost on my windshield. I got after some chores that needed to be done. Specifically, I walked my entire fence line, repairing easy breaks, noting breaks requiring tools and more barbed wire, making sure my signage is up to date. Some fool(s) have been dumping old tires and junk on my upper pasture near the road. So, I've got to get that cleaned up soon. Today, I got the wherewithal to make some NO DUMPING signs.

Last night was overcast and warmer than Friday. I drove home in rain.

All in all, it was a much-needed time out. I slept nine hours each night (and am still tired from Easter!). I feasted my soul on the woods and waters. There were turkeys and a whitetail deer. I talked to God, read a little bit, worked on some calendar stuff.
