Update, with pix

I had a delightful dinner last night with that_guy_zach and Lance L. at the Hofbräuhaus in Newport, KY. I had the Kassler Rippchen with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. This year's Adulterator was dark and hoppy as always. Yum all the way around!

Afterwards, I went to Wilderstead and stayed in my cabin. The wood-burning stove performed admirably, but the valve on my propane heater broke. But I still slept warm, and the morning dawned gloriously: near freezing, but no wind. In my sheltered holler, it was delightful.

I didn't get my fence walked, but that'll be for another time. In the meantime, here are some pictures of my recent adventures.

The first is from last weekend's confirmation retreat. We truly form a community on retreat. Everybody shares in the chores of communal life. Here, collinsmom and Matthew work on her wonderful Bacon-wrapped Chicken.

The middle pic is from yesterday afternoon, I think. The Pishon looked especially lovely from the vantage point of my treasure chest, so I went down to the bank of the stream and took this shot. Something about the swift flow of water edged with ice in the winter sunlight. Bracing.

Then, as I was heading for home this morning, I noticed the subject of the last pic as I came into Milton on Laughery Creek. The local Church of Christ has built a new church! I had to laugh: I've made many references to the stereotypical "Rev. Billy Joe Bob's Jesus Barn" over the years, and there it was!

Enjoy! Click on any pic to enlarge.
