Getting ready

Plugging along. Gotta go buy food and fuel for this weekend's shakedown this evening. Our Scoutmaster likes propane, and I happen to have two old propane one-burner stoves. Coleman only made them about a year or so. We took three treks with them (two to Philmont, one to Isle Royale) before replacing them with white gas stoves several years ago. They should still be good, though.

I miss Venturing. Boy Scouting is a wonderful thing; it's how I grew up. But there was something really open-ended about the high adventure and ministry program we had going with the older co-ed youth.

I'd love to have a Venture Crew again, but getting time away is a bit problematic right now. collinsmom's schooling ties me down to pet care during her regular semesters, and her schooling is the top priority these days. For the next couple of years, I have to be careful in budgeting my time for big trips of any sort.

Quote of the day

When his life was ruined, his family killed, his farm destroyed, Job knelt down on the ground and yelled up to the heavens, "Why God? Why me?" and the thundering voice of God answered, "There's just something about you that pisses me off."
