A wonderful weekend
I scooted out of here about 11:30 yesterday morning, bound for Wilderstead. There, I delivered the things I needed for this weekend's work, and headed to Fairfield. Met up with that_guy_zach
at Bass Pro Shops, where I bought some khakis and things. Then we went out to eat. I busted my diet (fish and chips will do that), but it was worth it.
I returned to Wilderstead for a wonderful night's sleep in my cabin. The temperature was just right, and there was a gentle rain all night long, drumming on the roof above. The rain quit just before I got up.
I had a lot of burning to do (old tax records, boxes from the move too beat-up to use again, etc.), and with the wet grass and mud all around, it was a perfect burn day. I also got down to installing my new loft window.
I swear, the particle board siding on our cabin must be made out of rustic mithril, or something. I busted a blade in my craft saw trying to cut it, then broke the doggone saw
. Which necessitated a trip into town to buy a new reciprocating saw. Finally got the window installed. I'd post a picture, but as I was cleaning up and turned my camera on to snap the day's work, the camera froze. Time to get a new battery.
I came home to a wonderful spring day here. It's barefoot weather. At last.
The only downer from this weekend is that that_guy_zach
says he can't go to NY with me at the end of May. Visiting folks is fine, and driving is OK, but hiking in the mountains alone is not my favorite thing. I am aiming for the top of Mt. Marcy, and I want someone to share it with. collinsmom
has other fish to fry, siege
has too many things he needs to get settled, stryck
is way out in Virginia. So I'm not sure what's going to happen here, but I do know that I've GOT to take time for me to do the things I want to accomplish.
