Dear LJ Fairy

I'm trying to replace the headlamp assembly (not the bulb, the whole dogggone thing) on a '99 Mazda B2500 light duty truck (same body model as a Ford Ranger). But I can't get the damned thing out.

How do you remove the bushings that hold the thing in?

For that matter, I can't get the bushings off the replacement headlamp assembly I bought, so I can't get the new one IN until I've got this figured out.

EDIT: Rejoice! We conquer! (sort of)

3:11 p.m.

siege was right, below, as I learned from a local body shop guy I asked about the problem. Which didn't mean getting the clips OUT wasn't one tough sumbitch (didn't think to try to buy a special tool). But we finally got the old one out. Ah, but getting there is only half the fun!

Getting the new one in was just as bad. In fact, it's not rock-hard seated, yet. I'm giving it a rest, and I'll get back to it later -- or tomorrow, even. All I know right now is, I don't ever want to have to do this job again.

Anyway, this day has been largely shot. I was going to go to Wilderstead and do some work, but I'll put that off until Monday, early. I took Sassy for a ride and a walk over at Flatwoods Park (she was in doggy heaven). And I've got other important piddlin' to do, fun-wise. So today is just a day off, and Monday will be a jubilee day.

Cuthbert has taken to sleeping on my socks. Which would be fine until he decides to push them all onto the floor to make more room for himself.
