Muvvers Day story

Years ago, I was pastoring a congregation in Indianapolis.  My Lay Leader was a retired Army Sergeant, one of the sweetest guys you've ever met, though he came from a rough background.

One Mothers Day found him standing in front of the church with a flat of begonias in his hand.  His mission was to distribute them to the ladies present, but he had no idea how to proceed.  He looked perplexed for a moment, then said, "All right, all you Mothers come up here and get these flowers."

I about fell out of my chair in the chancel.
