My oldest sister, while working on her Master's degree in English, was required to write a description of someone she knew well. She chose me.
So when I was applying to be the Director of a community center that catered largely to African-Americans, the all black interview committee seemed not to know what to do with me. Finally, one lady asked, "How would people who know you well describe you?"
Well, I had just recently been told that. So I said, "As a cross between Neil Diamond's Brother Love and Chaucer's Clerke."
I didn't get the job.
