Another trip around the sun for the Daily Mustard
Livejournal sent me a "Happy LJ" note to mark that today is the 17th anniversary of this blog. That's a lotta wordage. When I started, I worried about being able to post enough material regularly in order to sustain reader interest. It turned out that posting enough material was not an issue, but the eyeballs drifted away from LJ to FaceBook and now other venues.
Also ist das Leben in die grosse Stadt. (shrug) Or as they might've said in ancient Rome, Sic friatur crustum dulce. I have continued to blog here because I like the long-form format. I'm somebody who thinks in whole paragraphs, not a couple of sentences.
Occasionally, others pick up my words and give them to a greater audience. And I have reason to believe that more people read my stuff than I see. They tell me so when I see them. So, as a public intellectual, a minister of the gospel, and a general gasbag, I keep on generating more wordpower.
It's another pulpit/soapbox/lectern for me to use in retirement.
