I have some very personal heroes of the faith. Saints, to be sure, though not often celebrated in the sanctoral calendars of the various churches. Still, there is a time and place to honor them, and every now and then I'll write a collect for a putative feast day of a saint who should be remembered. This collect is in honor of Eutychus, whose story is in Acts 20:7-12. O God, who by the hand of Paul did restore the blessed Eutychus to life when he was overcome with weariness: Restore our souls as often as we are in danger of becoming weary in our well-doing, that we may continue in your service unto the ages of ages; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
