Exploring new tastes

When giving Sassafras her medicine yesterday evening, I stuck the pill in a piece of leftover turkey. She gobbled it down greedily. Then, thinking that Cuthbert deserved a little holiday cheer, I tore off a small piece of turkey to give to him.

This was the first human food he's ever been given (though I've caught him lapping the cream from the bottom of a cereal bowl). He seemed interested in it, but never having seen it before didn't quite know what to do with it. Seeing his delay, Sassy snatched it up from under his nose, so I put her out. Then I gave Cuthbert a couple of smaller pieces on the kitchen floor.

It took him a great deal of sniffing and licking before he decided to eat them. But I'm sure he'll be ready the next time the good stuff gets handed round.

Our little boy-cat is growing up.
