Yay for me

Well, I'm pooped, but I feel great. I decided to punt on this whole day and spend it doing something I wanted to do -- as part of my recovery.

So I went out to Wilderstead about 11:00 a.m. and spent the day installing plywood skirting all around the cabin. I'd pre-cut this a couple weeks ago, just before I got sick. So all I had to do was lay it out, nail some bracing on, and paint the back sides. Then I went and got more nails (oops). Upon returning, I nailed up the skirting all around, and got the front painted.

At that point, it was pushing 4:00 p.m., and the sun was scraping the trees atop Akes Hill, so I decided to call it a day. I'll go back tomorrow and paint the other three sides, and tack on the corner moldings and paint them. And then, our propane heater will keep the cabin ever so much warmer when we want to use it in the depth of winter.

While I was getting started out yonder, I noticed a couple of guys on a four-wheeler (I presume my neighbor's son and maybe his dad) hauling a buck out of the woods. As I was finishing up, I noticed one guy heading back up the hill on the same four-wheeler, I guess for the dusk hunting hours.

If I have the energy for it, I need to slaughter that second pumpkin and steam the flesh for pies. And, of course, gotta clean my brushes.

All in all, a wonderful day.
