The frustrated author begs on his electronic street corner

I've knocked out chapter one of my Christian education magnum opus, and am barreling through chapter two. My problem is, I need readers -- intelligent, experienced readers -- to give me feedback.

First drafts are always sloppy. They tend to assume stuff not in evidence because it's clear in the writer's brain, but less so on the page. There can be failures in tone. And this assumes that the actual ideas expressed are all fine, but, of course, having people push back against these, too, would be helpful.

Would anyone like to get together on a semi-regular basis for some eats to talk over my stuff? Should I send hard copies to potential readers? Post it on my LiveJournal? What?
