Well, that's done

I finally got my taxes done last night. (I was so overwhelmed in April, I just filed for an automatic extension and punted.) I'm asking for a whopping refund this year. For the past several years, I've carried over about a fifth quarter's worth of estimated tax payments on each federal return, since our medical bills go up and down so erratically that I can't predict what our taxable income is going to be. That said, I've been guessing consistently well the last few years, so I'm going to draw down that carryover a good bit. I'm gambling that we're going to have a saner government next year; besides, after four years of recession, we really, really need the money now.
