Great day in church

It's been a lovely day. Preached on the Name of Jesus this morning. Celebrated holy communion. Received Russ and Cindy as new members (Russ by Reaffirmation of Faith, Cindy by Profession of Faith at Baptism); also baptized Cindy's 3-year-old daughter, Olivia. We also said good-bye to Virginia, who is moving to Minnesota to be closer to her children. We'll miss her.

During Sunday School time, we played the White Elephant Gift Exchange instead. Wound up with a scented candle (not bad, as these things go). As that was ending, people started arriving for the wedding of Russ and Cindy (q.v.). Following the wedding -- a simple affair, just the couple, the families, and God -- we all went out to Scholars Inn for a wedding brunch.

And with that, I'm done. Nothing else on the ol' schedule till tomorrow. Just basking in the love of God and neighbor. Altogether, a beautiful day.
