Heading for home shortly

Well, I gave my last report as NAUMS President to the General Commission on UM Men. I was polite as well as passionate as I told them that some of their actions vis-a-vis NAUMS are short-sighted. I got an ovation when I concluded, but it doesn't change anything. *sigh*

So, why do it? Expressing personal pique is not a worthy motive, and it wasn't about that. Rather, it was like the charge God gave to Ezekiel:
I have set you as a watchman over the people. If they sin and you warn them not, then they shall suffer the effects of their sin, and I will require their blood at your hands. If they sin despite your warning, then they shall suffer the effects of their sin, but you will save your soul. (paraphrased)
So what I did was, I delivered my soul -- in both senses. I've had my say, and I am no longer going to be responsible for what GCUMM does, good or bad.

I don't know how many of these meetings I've been to where I wound up going home angry or depressed. They're great guys, but there's only so much room in the treehouse, I guess. My feeling is that everybody is important: your success should be my delight, and vice versa. It costs me nothing to bring you along, and let you succeed along with me. But not everybody feels that way, Alas.
